    Hey hawk-i

    That retailer you alluded to with the advertisement for $489.99 Varget.........isn't in stock. That's an old price from old stock my friend.

    I for one have been a very good customer of Prophet River and applaud them for their awesome customer service.

    Clay has been a great connection for me and my wife.

    Now I will break down for you what I said above.

    As dealers, we all pay the same cost of products, whether it be powder, guns, ammunition or accessories. We all buy from the same Canadian distributors.

    Prophet River's pricing isn't always the least expensive, but their customer service is the best. No contest!......

    When a dealer sells one pound powder bottles for $130.00 each, it's greed driven in my opinion. Only my opinion.

    Clay does not do this, I do not do this.

    So next time read the entire thread before thinking you are coming to Clay's rescue. I don't think he needs your help.

    I'm not in competition with any other dealer period.

    Hopefully you can get your reading skills to a level where you can understand what one is trying to say before opening your mouth.

    Thanks........
    your post #18 is the one that triggered me ... no need enemy when he has friend like that ...

    It takes 30 seconds to figure out how much things cost in the US and to compare to what dealers are selling it for here;

    For an example - when in stock;

    Varget 1lbs = U.S $50-55
    Exchange rate = 30-35%
    _____________________
    Total *give or take* = CAN $65-70

    $80 per 1lb is expensive but appears to be reasonable priced for our market.

    Cheers,
    BE PREPARED - Noah didn't build the Ark when it was raining!

    Cheers,
    Your Canadian dollar conversion is spot on. Other than some credit card companies charge close to 40% exchange right now......

    The deal is, our ammunition, powder, guns, ammunition and accessories are actually a little less expensive here in Canada than the United States.

    One can compare Canadian pricing to Midway USA for example. If a particular box of ammunition sells for $55.00 in Canada, it usually is around $50.00 - $55.00 USD.

    In some cases, our items are less expensive in Canada.

    We used to buy all our ammo, reloading components and accessories in the USA. Now, for the most part, it's less expensive in Canada.

    So again, although your math is bang on, it usually is better to buy here in Canada.

    $80.00 per pound of Varget in Canada is the going rate. I have seen some dealers asking anywhere from $90.00 - $130.00 per pound of the same powder.

    In Canada right now, we actually have the upper hand on some items, not everything though of course.

    In particular, items that have 11% FET on them in the USA- are often cheaper in Canada.

I will take my bits and stuff them in a box somewhere out of the way. Cant be bothered to barter over all the little bits. When I go, off to Value Village or the club with the box as per the will. We all have to make a living and vendors buy for what its sold for and re-sells it. Got it. My market share says no to those prices. I couldve accepted 30-40% increase not 300%.

    Good luck all and be safe.
    I just bought 100 rounds of Sierra #1365 (224) at Bass Pro for $49.99 plus tax - the last time I bought these they were $34.99. I have three pounds of W-748 that I was able to get decent 5 shot groups at 100 yards. Like, yourself once my supply is gone it's gone. Not going to pay $85 for a pound of powder when I bought the same powder not long ago for $42.95. I also found some factory loads that shoot well and would be acceptable for coyote hunting
