We charge a flat rate of .....

We charge a flat rate of $7.95 + $5.00 shipping and handling to anywhere in Canada on orders $150 or more*.

You'll see this at the checkout as TNA Super Value Flat Rate. -

    No, don't see that ...

What I can see is - "Canada Post (Expedited Parcel) $32.12" while subtotal is $730.79 ... no ammo/dangerous goods, btw ...
If a politician’s life is worth armed guards, why aren't our children's lives worth the ability for us to give them the same level of protection?

    I'd prefer if it was a flat rate of $1.50 + $3.00 + $3.45 + $1.75 + $3.25 shipping and handling.

    What the * says.

Not Eligible For Flat Rate Shipping

*Some conditions apply to Flat Rate Shipping.

Orders containing ammunition, reloading supplies/equipment, body armour, binary explosives, and some special items including some sale items are temporarily not eligible for the TNA Flat Rate shipping. Instead, you will see your cost for Canada Post and/or UPS Standard shipping in the shopping cart.

Should ask if TNA will arrange pickup. They're not far from you.

I ordered from them a month ago, still was the flat rate, now it is something like $30 plus mandatory insurance for the SAME stuff, sorry no.

But I saw it with other retailers as well, you have to complain, otherwise they get away with it.

I believe they were having a small technical problem with the flat rate at checkout. Just send them a message and they’ll most likely correct the issue by refunding the difference. They’ve always been very helpful whenever I’ve reached out.

    Hey Guys,

So ya shipping is brutal these days
the carriers are charging massive fuel surcharges, exchange rates suck and packaging materials costs are up

basically our average shipping cost is about 18.50 to canada post + box+tape+packing+labour (about $5) so $23.50
We lose money on every person who takes the flat rate shipping option

this is kinda OK where there is some profit to be had

But think of an order like this

you get 1 or 2 items totalling $114
we get about a 15% markup so we are working with about $15 contribution to overhead
you pick the old flat rate shipping of $7.95

you pay with a credit card so we lose about 2-4% (card specific) ~ so lets say $3
Canada post charges us $18 bucks (18-8 = $10 loss)
packing materials and cost to ship is about $5
At this point TNA has already lost $3
let alone the holding cost of the goods and other overhead like, payroll, rent, utilities, insurance etc

the shipping rates that you see are essentially what we pay

we can't lose money on every order and remain a viable business
    so we either had to...

jack our prices to be more in line with other stores
push a more realistic shipping cost to the customers
    we chose the latter

Any order placed at about $150 in goods that chooses the flat rate option will essentially be a breakeven order

as for the insurance, it can be turned off with a radio button
what was happening there is an order would turn up missing, damaged or whatever and we would eat the cost of the replacement item over the $100 insurance offered by the carriers
we would always take care of the customers but again this resulted in a for the company. Lots of time on the phone for Dave to get the claim paid plus the costs of resending the lost or damaged goods.

I can see the frustration, however we are not Amazon and have no public backing.
We are a small private business fighting to stay afloat in a hostile climate

WE love Canada, WE love guns and WE love making sure that everyone has options
