Yes both can be shot with a 12 Ga Shotgun, but be sure chokes are open.

I had a gimp flare once that sort didn't fly very high and landed while still burning, too a bit of effort to get it under control when the grass lit up. I do love shooting them off but I've been very careful since that time.
