If you've got 5+ years in a gun store and prior smithing experience they'll top out at $18.25 an hour.

So if you're being paid more than $18.25 an hour over in BC, skip applying here.
Is this a joke? Minimum wage is $16.75. You could work at McDonald's with no qualifications nor experience at all and net a similar pay cheque... I really hope you're joking.

Me personally, I won’t criticize someone on how they choose to run their business or what they pay employees. The free market will sort it all out one way or another.

Heck, I’d be tempted to apply if I had the time and could stand to work in a retail setting. I’d ask for store credit as payment lol.

Hope it all works out for you HiCal.

"No one wants to work anymore!"

Under 40k for someone with experience in that part of the world, best bet is to find a retiree who wants a little walkin around town money. When a 2 bed condo is easily over a half mil, that's not even enough money to start thinking about living on. That's two roommates money or still living with your parents money.

Welcome to the trudy world of liberals where they suck Canada Dry!......

And your right, since the covid scam with free money, no one wants to work.

The country is in very bad economic shape.

Lets all thank the liberal gun owners on Gunnutz who voted for communism.

Are you blaming trudy and whatever you think communism is for hical's low wages?

What is the Free Market if not people being able to refuse to work for poverty wages?

In state communism we would all be working in nationalized industry and living in social housing whilst being brutally sanctioned by the US and Britain. Read a book.

No, I'm blaming the piece of sh1t for destroying Canada with his support for the covid scam, giving out free money and allowing Canadians to be lazy.

And the idiots that voting him in, twice!......

I do not give a crap what Hi-Cal does, other than paying poverty wages is shameful.

Trudy's communism will completely destroy Canada, if it hasn't already.

basic knowledge is worth $20 per hour
paying anything under $20 95% of people would be very unhappy unless... Retired and just looking for a hobby job

I work 40-50 hours per week , I make a LOT! more than what they are offering...

    I am not retired
But IF i had a local Gun shop... That was willing to Give me "cost"+10% I would 100% work 12 hours per Week
    at $18 per hour

AS i spend WAY to much on This hobby per year and cost + 10% i would be happier than a pig in ####.
Too bad i am not local LOL!

Rough rule of thumb in the Lower Mainland for wages common trades and sales (my rule):

    - Under age 18 no skills, starting out: Min $16.75 (Min wage)
    - 18-25ish Basic skills, not saving: $18-$22
    - 19-40's Decent Skill Set, small family, little to no savings: $22-32
    - 20-50+ Skilled, Union, Sales Experience: $32-55

Before I rejoined the trades, I paid my sales staff $18-22 plus commish. This was around 2005-8 before I ditched the employees. I would pay $22-28 plus commish now if I had to do it again.
Minimum wage for adults here in the Lower Mainland should be $22. Anything less is a hobby job.

    Just my 2 cents.
