Stupid questions:

1. Green thing is a new follower that replaces stock stainless steel?
2. Instruction says new spring may need to be cut to length approx 3 inches beyond magazine tube installed. what does that mean?

The sping supplied is oit standard 48 inch sping.
The lengh you need should be around 3xin h longer then the total mag tube
Place the spring amd follower into the gun and cut the sping 3 inch longer then the end of the barrel
