I would be extremely cautious on using just any .27 caliber blank. It's my understanding they come in different lengths and powder charges.

Now half of me wants to get one just to chrono theirs vs hardware store ones... lol honestly that was my first assumption, you get to pick your performance by selecting different power blanks... feels like a missed opportunity, unless everything at the hardware store is too weak...
