    I've gotten the same thing from many seasoned hunters about FMJ's.

    Thought for sure that they were illegal... Yeah, that's why they're available to buy everywhere!

    They are illegal in many places as specified in their hunting regs for hunting. Not to buy and use for non hunting purposes.

    My RPAL instructor said the same thing... But I have a whole bunch of hollow points in my safe
    Without history there can be nothing new.

    The actual regulation was from Natural Resources Canada, it stated it was illegal to import cartridges intended for use in handguns if they featured hollow-point bullets.

    Component HP bullets for reloading were okay to import.
    Domestic loading of handgun ammo with HP was okay.
    HP ammunition in what are often thought of as handgun calibers was okay to import if there was a sticker on the box that said "For Rifle Use Only" (anybody else remember those?)

    Once the ammo was in the country it was perfectly legal to use it in whatever firearm you chose.

    Tell him to take a stroll in pretty much any firearm store and look at all the hollow points on the shelve lol
