I was just reading the IPSC Global Village and Vince reported that during the European IPSC Handgun Championships,

Around Fifty (50!)1911 design guns failed the pre-check due to thumb safeties that didn't work.

I don't know about you, but I don't want a 1.5 lb trigger pull single action pistol being slid into a holster on my body that doesn't at least have one safety protecting that round from launching into my body.

It gave me pause to go check my competition guns and confirm the safeties work. Fortunately, all are in good shape.

You might want to check yours when you get a chance. It only takes a minute.

Better to find out at home in dry fire testing than the hard way with a round into your foot, butt or worse (think Open Appendix-draw)
