That is right....Steyr made a 50 that will injure the operator everytime. You think maybe they tested it a bit? You guys kill me.

Let Valour not Fail
It's okay, half the people making accusations here probably haven't even shot a .50BMG rifle. They see that big scary bullet and fail to realize the weight and muzzle break attached to it!
I own the HS50 and I would jump at the opportunity to shoot the HS-50M1, definitely not a dangerous to user firearm.
If you wouldn't jump at the opportunity to fire one, that insinuates you have not fired this model yet. So how can you say its not dangerous to the operator?
My argument is not that its dangerous, but that its not efficient to have the magazine on the side of the rifle. With the added weight on the side, it will make it more difficult to hold level. Its pretty obvious to see. Why did they stop producing weapons with the magazine system on the side after WW2? there not effective, make the weapon platform unbalanced. Besides making the weapon pretty much unless if your left handed.
For the record my comment was targeted at the people who said this firearm is dangerous to use. I'm not worried about what people think is a bad design.
If you read my post more carefully, you will see that I would jump at the opportunity to shoot one of these.
How can I say it's not dangerous? A better question is how can you say that it is? I own the HS50, albeit not the newer M1, but they share lots of similarities. One thing that they did do with the M1 is install a larger recoil pad, which increases the length of pull. I'm sure user safety was on their minds when they designed this.
It was also mentioned above, how long has Steyr Mannlicher been around for? Chances are they wouldn't dump the large sums of money into designing, then producing a product that's going to cause injury to their customers. If this was true a company of the statue would not be around today.
Seriously, those think the magazine is too close to the shooter's mouth have no idea how a 50 cal is setup. This is not . 308 with an eye relielf of 3".

Pretty cool rifle! I want to add one to my collection!
So what makes this version worth $2000.00+ more than my old version?
FG42 rides again!
