SHOT SHOW 2011 - Mossberg hunting rifles and shotguns

Company rep holds Mossberg shotgun for me

Yes folks, that's a Mossberg levergun. The 464 The resemblance to the '94 Winchester is only from a distance. This is a uniquely Mossberg rifle.
It comes with a 2 yr warranty, and the magazine is a 6+1 in 30-30 only.
It uses a round bolt Marlin like, but again, unique to Mossberg in design, and like a '94 Winchester, the action is loose when open, but when closed, is solid, and quiet.

Mossberg should be way more popular than it is.
There's not a lot wrong with these rifles.
Mauser style bolt, loose when open, tight when closed.
Free floating barrel was not on center in the stock, but throughout the show, on the fairly large number of rifles I checked, the only company that had barrels truly centered in the barrel groove, was Winchester's Model 70. In the real world, as long as it's not in contact, it's not an issue.

Anyword on weither there new rifles will fall apart like their old ones?

On a serious note: Did you get a chance to see the New Maverick Over/Under , several people had expressed interest in them.

I still don't trust those Marlin Bolts
Too many guys have had there bolts fall apart. Hopefully they've fixed that.
Till then I'll buy a Marlin or a Stevens if I'm looking for economy.

Anyone own one of these 4x4 rifles? Im a big mossberg fan, and I'm looking for an accurate 30-06. I like both versions (synthetic and stainless). Let me know your thoughts/reviews.

I've got a 4X4, the year before they came out with the adjustable trigger. I really like it. Very accurate, smooth action. the only negative on mine is the trigger, but the new ones should be better.
It's important to have a good vocabulary. If I had known the difference between the words 'antidote' and 'anecdote,' one of my good friends would still be alive.

Do not respond to emotion with more emotion, think before you speak, set the record straight with truth, and statistics. RESPOND to every slight, do not let it slide. Or we will be back where we started. Or worse! Write, email, phone, or personally confront those who would constrain us. They are your firearms to lose.???
