I kinda like the 1911R1S, might be a good start for a build, exept for the 80 series stuff...

The fellow I spoke to didn't have anything real insightful to say.

What I did notice, however, is that ruger is absolutely definitely not hyping their 1911 in their SHOT booth as much as they are their sr-9, scout rifle, sr-556, and others.

They had a wall dedicated to all of the other firearms noted above, but literally only one (1) SR1911 on display, and it was hiding amongst all their other less popular pistols.

No posters, no fanfare, no big shiny "look at me, I'm ruger's first 1911 ever!" displays.

I thought it quite odd myself.

I've been looking at the GSG/Sig .22 1911 for a while but was kind of put off by all the complaints about the finish, I guess this version comes in the Nitron which solves my problem. I'd have no problem paying the extra $100 for the Sig with a decent finish!

I wonder when we'll start to see these?

Perhaps they don't want to draw attention to the reported issues they are having with this gun.

    Thanks for the update!!!

There are no "reported issues" with the SR1911 other than the challange that Ruger is having in keeping up with the incredible demand for this gun. The only reference to any "issues" I have ever seen was in one thread here on CGN and that's it. These guns have been selling like hotcakes for the past year in the US and I have never seen a negative word printed about an SR1911.

The lack of fanfare may be due to the fact that this gun was actually rolled out at last year's SHOT show, combines with the fact that, as mentioned, Ruger is already running at max capacity trying to fill orders for this gun...

The SR1911 was not at SHOT last year (at least I did not see it when I was at the Ruger booth - it could have been hiding, but it definitely wasn't hyped), and it was not in any of the 2011 Ruger product catalogs / litrature that I picked up last year either.

Remington R1 will probably be my first .45 1911.
