I did mine right before Covid hit (dec 2019). Took about 2 months and a little bit.... with covid, maybe a little longer.

I asked a little while back, no answer yet so asking again. Are the PAL applications processed by provincial CFO's or centrally in Miramichi? I'm just hoping to get some idea of how long I might have to wait in MB. Is there anybody from MB who could give some recent wait time feedback?

Usually the RCMP does the initial check and then passes the application to the provincial CFO. No idea what the responsibilities the provinces vs the RCMP are. All I know is that my interviews/references were done by the provincial CFO.

From my understanding, the provincial CFO's are the ones who do all the background checks and approve applications.

My RPAL and PAL was taking the usual long time everyone seems to be experiencing. Now with COVID it's much worse. It may help to phone the CFO to get an update and respectfully inquire if it is possible to verify it's current status. You might get lucky and have them push it forward. No guarantees but it's worth a try. Good luck fellow Canuck!

Thanks for the replies. I’ll just wait and give CFO a call.

The ones with absolutely no hits on their record, ie traffic ticket, court appearance, etc. Get approved by the rcmp without cfo input, this is speaking from experience though, can’t validate whether it’s true or not officially.
