Reverse direction safety ( compared to AR ) and no bolt hold open... Those are gonna be concerns for me...

If hold open another problem emerges- mag can be inserted up beyond the locking point. What's to stop it?
Listen, and understand. That Liberal is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse- only fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until your guns are gone.

    The mag latch stops it.

    Update Jan. 22, 2013

    Hi everyone,

It’s been a very busy week and we’ve returned from a very productive Shot Show. We’re really excited about bringing the MPA-RC rifle to the Canadian market, and the response from the CGN community has been overwhelmingly positive. We’re blown away by your support and your interest in this rifle, and we want to do our very best to bring the MPA-RC to market as quickly as humanly possible.

Some of the more observant CGN members have noticed the similarity of the MPAR 556 to the Leader Dynamics T2 Mark 5 rifle. As some of you know, the Leader Dynamics Mark series of rifles are prohibited by name with the RCMP. We want to assure everyone that although the MPAR 556 looks similar to the Leader, the parts are not interchangeable.

Blue Line is committed to bringing the MPA-RC to Canada, and we want to stress that the MPA-RC is going to be a different rifle than the MPAR 556. The MPA–RC will be a dedicated Canadian production model and will be tailor-made by Masterpiece Arms (MPA) to conform to Canadian firearms law and ensure a Non-Restricted certification.

We know everyone is eager to find out what the MSRP of the rifle will be, and we will do our best to keep the rifle as affordable as possible. Our target MSRP will be $1199.00, and we will work very hard with MPA to keep costs down. However, depending on the changes that have to be made to the design, we may have to adjust the MSRP accordingly.

Until we receive a certification from the RCMP, the MPA-RC will only be available in 5.56 / .223. We will definitely be looking to bring in other calibres in the future. We will also be working with MPA to add some features like a bolt hold-open, shell casing deflector, different handguard and stock options. Feel free to message us with features / options / accessories you might want to see.

Here’s some information about the MPA-RC for those of you who are curious to know more about it: The rifle will be completely produced at MPA, except for the magazine and the springs. The barrel blanks are provided by ER Shaw Precision Barrels, but final CNC turning operations will be performed by MPA. The MPAR and MPA-RC will feature the following:
    • Adjustable gas piston system
    • Locked bolt design
    • Dual recoil springs
    • 10” aluminum handguard with adjustable Picatinny rail segments
    • Side folding collapsible stock
    • Full length Picatinny top rail
    • Left side charging handle with forward assist
    • Ambi Safety selector
    • AR magazine compatible

Please stay tuned to our forum for future updates. We will likely establish a pre-order / waitlist in the future, but for the time being we will not be making any pre-order arrangements. Your support and encouragement go a long way, and all of us at the Blue Line Team appreciate it.

Warmest Regards from all of us,

    Pat

Why is the hold-open such a deal breaker?

I hate you. LOL. Based on a related design some users reported a hard insert could override it. Reason older HK and Beretta designs had stops on the magazine.

Can anyone confirm which way the safety rotates?

Same rotation as an AR style safety?

Looks good if its not restricted, but does anyone else feel like it could have a bit more of a magwell? Looks like the mags are about to fall out any second.
