    Question

Frank, have you had the opportunity to run an EOTech on the SHG yet?
Does the optic or the butt stock benefit from a riser or was it good to go as is?
    Thank you!

Good morning. No, it is very early on in this process, no Eotechs here at this writing. I am spending the day installing the SHG to various stocks, a US GI wood M14 with a dark earth colored SHG is a priority right now as is getting a production part on my own Blackfeather (I've been running various prototypes through this process). I should have a new optic on the SHG at the range this afternoon, a Bushnell TRS-25 and we're trying out a Trijicon RMR today. Cheers for now.

    Understood & thank you.
I will hold off purchasing a new EOTech until after I have installed my SHG

This photo shows the underside of a group of Scout Hand Guards (SHG) from M14.ca. A few points of note:

    1. Our proprietary steel bracket design ensures a strong, lightweight, uniform fitment to standard contour m14/m1a barrels, some of which can vary in dimension, often significantly. This “optically precise” fit, and the security of the massive contact surfaces aligning and maintaining this fit, are critical to ensure retention of zero with any optical devices installed on the SHG.

    2. A total of 14 pre-hardened steel fasteners unitize SHG to barrel at 3 key locations to offer the strongest and most secure fitment available

    3. The SHG is as low as the receiver flat top at the barrel ring, yet it still has an opening at sides for 10 and 2 o'clock 4" picatinny rails - Blackfeather ships with 2, 4" picatinny rails which you can move, if desired to these positions.

    4. Blackfeather customers enjoy true rail to barrel indexing simplifying installation with these stocks.

    5. Weight of the M14.ca SHG is 186 grams or 6.56oz. (just double that of a US GI fibreglass hand guard).

1000 yard hits at The Best Of the West Shooting Center in Liberty Hill, TX.

    Rifle platform:
Springfield Armory M1A Scout with M14.ca CASM "Steel" scope mount
Schmidt and Bender 4-16x50 PMII with a Gen2 reticle mounted to Badger Ordnance rings
18 inch medium weight stainless match barrel in 1/10 twist, make of barrel unknown
    Tuned NM GI trigger
    USGI fiberglass stock, unbedded
    Harris bipod
    Gas system shimmed, not unitized
    Gas piston stock USGI
Ammo LC M118 LR 175 grain SMK 7.62mm match ammo
Temp at the range was 98*F and the wind was fluctuating 10-15 mph
    The density altitude was 3500ft
The ammo average chronoed at 2650 fps on a chrony f1
The comeup for 1000 yard was 10.6 mils
The velocity seemed a bit high but the 10.6 mil to 1k verifies this is the correct velocity
The hits on target at that distance was consistent and multiple groups hovered at 1 MOA
The rifle was allowed to cool to test for cold bore repeatability
No shift in POI with the cold bore shot
Throughout the day groups were tested between the two distance and the results were absolutely consistent with 200 rounds of the same lot of ammo tested.
