Buy a used P226 in 9mm. Countless professionals around the world rely on this gun, and it's reputation ensures you'll always be able to resell it later for the same price if taken care of properly.
Some people would recommend getting the .22 conversion kit for learning, but that $300 buys a lot of 9mm rounds...

22 Calibre Ruger / Browning Buckmark, shoot all day and buy a 9MM later after you decide what you want to specialize in.

I suggested my 9mm preference, as he seemed to be leaning in that direction, looking at his list.

Who cares if "This has been posted many times"? This is the Newbie forum.

He had a specific question, referring to a specific list of handguns. Why are you so against new members posting their questions in the newbie forum? Your original answer was both helpful and relevant - just leave it at that.

Which of those fit your hand best? There's no point spending a pile of money on a handgun that's too big for your hand. You have to be able to easily reach the trigger with no strain. If you can't, it's too big. The fit can, sometimes, be fixed with a change of grips, but not always. Generally, too small is easily fixable with different grips. Too big a frame is rarely fixable.
Had a Smith M19 that I never did get to fit my hand. No matter what I did to it. Standard K frames are just too big for my hand. None of the 'Wonder Nines' even come close. Sniff. Would have had a CZ75 in a heart beat when they first came here and into the shop I worked in then. Too big. Been crying about it ever since.
Go to your local gun shop and try 'em on for size. Better would be to politely ask another club member if you can shoot his firearm. (Very few will refuse.) Or at least try it for size.
