I feel like these are the only guns that actually cost LESS for two-tone.

From the Boberg site:
"The Two-Tone Standard Edition has a black hardcoat-anodized aircraft-grade aluminum frame, a satin-finished natural stainless steel slide, and natural stainless steel barrel and parts."
"The Gen2 Onyx pistol, with Ion Bond DiamondBLACK finish features an extremely durable, self-lubricating, matte-black tactical finish on the slide, barrel, hammer and all exposed parts"
"The Platinum Edition's aircraft-grade aluminum frame has a proprietary Nickel/Chrome Satin Sheen finish - a Boberg Arms exclusive that no other firearm manufacturer can offer."

Sounds like to me that the Two Tone is their "standard" finishes, while they put more effort into the coatings of the Onxy and Platinum single finishes: the opposite of other manufactures that make their two tones special.

Congrats, Aniest - I felt your pain when you were going to be trapped at work! I think you're been the most ardent follower of the status for these little gems! :)

This will be my fourth advance order / pre-order since I have been a hunter & shooter. The first three were all "people have had them awhile and like them" kind-of-things where I had to put a deposit down to get my order made.

I heard of the Boberg sometime in 2011 and looked at it very seriously for the less-obvious reason: as someone who seeems to shoot heavy, centred firearms easier the slide being more centred over the grip seems to me to be the huge advantage. Most short pistols don't seem to have the heavy slide I shoot better with, so anything lighter in the 4.2 -5" range never suit me. I really had little hopes on it, never thought much more than "I want one IF we can get one here" and even kind of forgot about it through out 2012... until all of a sudden a report came in here about Wanstalls talking to Boberg to import them: this is the first time I have tracked a shooting and/or hunting tool for some time and will see the result.

So yes, I am an ardent follower.

Well, that was an impulse purchase....Onyx (fully upgraded) with 2 extra mags. Yikes.

Bad Wanstalls - I just bought a bunch of Magpul mags yesterday - stop stocking things I want!

For my fellow statistics nerds:

Most of the pistols coming in will have either Tritium and the Standard Trigger, or Tritium and the Short Stroke Trigger -- the sight upgrade is present on nearly all pistols.

The lighter pull of the 6LB spring addition is more popular than the reliability improvement of the 9LB spring addition.

Mags are averaging 2 additional mags per pistol.

:)

What are the odds of there being another order in the fall or winter? I'd love to get one of these, but I just bought my first 1911 and I can't justify another $2000 on another handgun.
