    7.62x39 is far superior at 75 yards the force upon impact is equal to that of a. 44 magnum and if you use hollowpoint or polymer tip ammo the entry wound would more than compensate for the yaw and tumble of the. 223 round. also the .223 trajectory is compromised even by foliage of tree branch's and definitely lacks the penetration that the 7.62x39 has.

    A lot of southern Ontario has a .275 calibre restriction for hunting, .223 is legal as a coyote/varmint/plinking round while the 7.62 is restricted to a range toy.

    A .223 SKS is simply sacrilege. It looses it's historical significance. It also isn't the best platform anyway.

    Wish You all the best but I for one wouldn't even consider such a rifle in .223

    I think that a cheap semi .223 is a good idea. Just not an sks.

    The .223 is a laser beam so to put it in something as sloppy as an SKS would be a collossal waste.
    The Cop put me in the backseat even though I clearly called shotgun!
