Absolutely love it! ^^^
It's finally done... the "Econorexic" F/A Modern Sporter.
Objective was to build a sub-6lb rifle for under $2500. And I did - just barely! 5.99lbs with no mag or optic, and $2481.67 (before taxes and shipping). Waiting for sales and "re-purposing" a couple of generic bits I already had brought me in just about $20 under budget!
With the Vortex Venom and alloy BUIS strapped on, it's 6.2lbs.
Everything went together pretty seamlessly. I know this has already been said many times, but the fit and finish of the ATRS components are second to none. Truly great workmanship. Definitely worth the wait. There were a couple of minor fitment issues, but primarily because of the parts, not the upper/lower. And I'm not faulting anyone - with all the thousands of parts combinations out there, there's always a chance for a slight discrepancy in fitment.
Notes: The Radian titanium forward assist needed a little finishing for free travel with the pin installed. Also, the F/A "tooth" interfered with rearward travel of the Brownells bolt carrier. a 1mm grind of that tooth was the perfect fix. And of course because I had to drift the pin in and out a few times, I managed to mar the upper with a slipped punch. D'oh. No such thing as a perfect build, right? And anyway this isn't a show pony - it's a working rancher.
The TNA dust cover won't snap closed without manually pushing down on the detent. I'm hoping after cycling everything for a while will help, otherwise I'll try compressing/cutting the detent spring a little bit.
The MRA front pin - what is the pivot pin on a traditional AR - is hella tight. Again, I'm hoping cycling it a few dozen times will remedy this.
The parts have been sitting in my safe for so long I can't actually believe this project is finally done. Off to the range on Monday to test everything out!

Can you ask Mike if he had any issues with the Brownells carrier not kicking the ejection port cover open?

Went out to a buddies place and assembled it all the day i got it. Lots of fun in store, and now i'm not the only guy in my hunting group without and NR-AR. Thank you Rick! I'd say its worth the 14 month wait
Just suck less, Bro.

No riser for the Vortex Venom?
"If you elect a clown, you get a circus. "
No, with the Pit Viper stock the rifle sits "high" in my shoulder. Cheek weld is there without much effort.
I've only put a couple of rounds downrange (to make sure it didn't explode haha). I'll try it with and without a riser, but I think without will be fine.
BTW, I LOVE the Smith Lighting Bolt. I'll be adding one to every compatible rifle I own.
