We're still waiting to see if there will be a military order from a non-Chinese state actor to piggyback on. Holding pattern until then, with the possibility the state actor could back out of the deal, though TI seems reasonably confident the deal will go through and their own order will go through.

What does non-Chinese state actors mean? And why does it have to be non-chinese?

    Interesting industry.

State actor is synonym for country. The Chinese military and government are no longer purchasing the Type 81, so the factory that produced them was going to destroy the destroy the tooling and make something else. It has been exported to other countries for use by other militaries in the past. One of those countries ordered enough Type 81 firearms post Chinese government cancellation that the factory kept the tooling and made that other government a run of Type 81s. TI piggybacked a run of brand new semi-automatic-ized Type 81 LMG firearms that is currently being sold in Canada. They have received notification of another potential production run ; should that go through, TI will piggyback an order of Type 81 fixed and folded rifles for sale in Canada.

in spite of what TI said, i dont believe they will destroy the tooling. there are over two dozen countries/non state actors that uses them currently.

But no one will replace them when there are far better alternatives for less, it's like the AKM, sure there's a lot but very few people replace them with new AKMs, they go for AK-100 or 200 series
