I'm getting the same error, show up at the bottom of the screen after you click add to cart.

I'm not sure if this will work for everyone experiencing this but rather than trying to add the item from the items own page try adding it from the home page. It worked for me.

Not logged in, on the item’s page, clicking to add to cart. I was able to use BetterNotBeTaken’s workaround though.
