❓Chiappa 1892 Alaskan Scout 12” Takedown 44 Mag - DOES IT CYCLE BUFFALO BORE 340gr?

For those of you who purchased the Alaskan Scout 44 mag rifle (in any length), have you tried cycling the Buffalo Bore 340gr hardcast +P+ ammo (item 4D)? I’m thinking it’s too long as I’ve got the similar 340gr Garrett that won’t cycle in any of my 44 mag leverguns.

Thanks

Heaviest I've gone is 240 grains in mine.
Mine's a 16" takedown.
Can't take the shorter full stocked ones ones (exception for the Mare's Laigs - classed by BATFE as pistols) stateside.

Chiappa don't list the twist rate of the barrel on their site. A 1 in 20" rate will stabilize boolits up to 320 gr which are more than up fer the job on big critters at pistol velocities inside 100 yds. If the rifle has a 1 in 38" twist, ye are basically fooked for tossing accurate lead of heavier weight than 260 gr or so.

Boolits of 340-395 gr or so work best in barrels with a 1 in 16" twist. The Marlin 1894 is a popular platform for custom take-down builds that work well with the heavy .44's when done right.

Pity NEI is outta biz at present, as they made molds for the .44 JDJ style 330 gr boolit that has taken the biggest critters both here and abroad at only 1500 fps from pistols.;)

There are 2 Marlin 1894s.
The older ones with microgroove rifling and the newer ones with ballard rifling.
The newer ones (ballard rifling) have a 1 in 38" ROT.
