You don't need to disasemble the 10/22 to clean the barrel. I just use a weed wacker line with a split in it to hold a rolled up patch. Anywho, take the barrel band off, take the screw out of the stock, make sure the safty button clears the stock when you lift it out. take the trigger group pins out, make sure all the other pins stay in the trigger group. Slide the large pin in the rear of the action out. Retract the bolt, hold it back on the handle, lift the bolt out at the same time wile in the rearmost position, but lift on the front side of it. It maby be a little tricky, and require some wiggle, and maby releasing a bit of preasure off the bolt handle. Thats probably as far as you need to go?. Just don't play with the trigger group, the pins can start to slide out on you, wich sucks.
I only clean the action every 2000, 3000 or so rds, I find myself cleaning my mags almost as often, because they get droped into the dirt ect. disasembling each mag is a pain, but is nessasy. I do wipe the bolt face and breach face, and whatever gunk I can get at out without disasembly probably ever 500rds or when its looking dirty. Hope this helps.
Forgeting means your not putting as many rds through it as you should
