hi - i've got a rifle in 308 with a light barrel (0.6" at the muzzle) that i would like to put a muzzle device on. standard 5/8" 308 is too big, and even 9/16" is a bit large. my research tells me that 1/2" should be fine; does anyone know a source of 308 muzzle devices in canada with a 1/2-28 thread? there's the apa micro bastard but nothing in stock. i'd be fine with a good clamp-on as well. worst case i can run an adaptor but want to avoid if possible. again, would like to find something in canada if possible as i've no patience for 6 month waits at the border or mercenary import fees ...

Buy a 5.56 muzzle device of your choice and ream the bore to 0.375”, or have a shop bore it out to ~0.330.
Your sidewall thickness will be pretty thin between a 1/2-28 thread and 0.310 rifling, but manageable.

drilling-out a 223 device is a good soln also. like you said - give myself lots of room for error.
the m305 device is 0.595x32 which leaves more meat on the barrel and i have one in hand, but cutting that is a job for a lathe - off to a gunsmith.

I had a 308 that had a bored out 223 brake and was threaded for 1/2-28. It didnt have a thick barrel.
