nice rifle,...but if I can comment on your choice of scope...way too big for a trim light rifle IMHO...something along the lines of a Leupold 2.5-8X would complement the rifle's short receiver....I'll bet a 2.5-8X Leupold is quite a bit lighter than the Kahles and more in keeping with the lightweight theme of the rifle...and you could mount it about 1/8" lower too.....but whatever works for you..

The Kahles 3-9x42 would be a much better fit for that rifle.

A couple of sheep hunts, and a couple of moose hunts, some scuffs, scratches and dings, and it will look like a hunting rifle.:D

"Hunting rifle" is a very foreign concept to some.

The odd scratch and ding is nothing to be afraid of. In fact I have a friend who has hunted most of his life with synthetic stocked rifles. He is now in the process of working out the details of a custom wood stocked rifle with Roger Biesen. He wants to hunt that rifle honestly and in 30yrs or so he'll have something blue worn and scratched to sit by the fire and hang on to. Makes sense to me!

To me it means any rifle that you aren't afraid to take hunting and risk scratches or dings.I know several people that own rifles that they won't hunt with, because they are scared of marking them up.One guy even buys synthetic stocks, that he only installs before the hunting season, then removes them after the hunting season, and replaces them with the wood stocks.
My own rifles do get scratched and dinged over time, but I could care less. However it doesn't make sense to me to spend a great deal of money to improve a guns cosmetic appearance, and then be afraid to hunt with it.

Change the scope huh...damn it! Ok boys, I also have a 3.5-10X40 VX-III Boone & Crockett. What say the gun Gurus of CGN? I really had this setup in my head for so long I was forcing it on myself. I can see everyones point. Now I need another rifle for the Kahles...

Are you happy with the Kahles up top? If so don't worry about what others think, enjoy your beautiful new rifle.

Aesthetically a 40mm scope would look nicer but it is your rifle so do what you want with it. I couldn't even afford the scope right now.

Thad thats a beauty. Your gonna love it. I picked up a 7-08 just like yours a couple months ago. The scope on mine is too big too;):D 4-12x 40 vortex, only temporary for now, haven't decided what I'm gonna glass it with and want to change the rings and mounts. Needs something shiny and blue to go with the rest of the gun.
