Hello. Is it safe to shoot 00 buckshot through a full choke tube? I can kill coyotes easy out to 50 or 60 yards with a modified choke, just want to try playing with some patterns. I was told from someone that it could be unsafe?

Its safe. Test your patterns and it may very from brand to brand. I find the winchester ranger low recoil 00 buck holds the best pattern

It is perfectly safe..........

However please note that if you use Flight control wads you give up all the advantages. For flight control you need to use an open choke to get them to work properly.

The same thing goes with the Versa-Tite wad by Hornady. Excellent buckshot loads if you want a tight pattern.

Thanks for the input, I have been using flight control wads with excellent results un a modified choke. Maybe I'll just stick with that. I wouldn't shoot a coyote with a shotgun past 60 yards anyhow. Sure is a rush when you bring em in that close!

it is fine to shot thru a full choke . but ther are much better loads thne 00buck for pattern and pay ;oad try some #4 buck DUTCH

I definitely concur based on my own testing. A skeet choke with less constriction gave me better patterns than the tighter improved cylinder choke with reduced recoil 00 buck.

With regular 00 buck, you may or may not get better results with full choke compared with a more open choke, depending on the load. Too much choke can sometimes deform the large pellets, causing larger patterns.

My dad's model 12 threw very good patterns with Imperial SSG through the Winchester FULL choke. IIRC SSG is actually 0 buck and that could have made a difference. Most deer out to 35 yards didn't notice they just died.
