[8QUOTE=Deersniper72;14211523]ya bud...i cant even get the minimum amount of recommended powder into the case with barnes 180 grains. i havent tried lighter bullets...assuming theyd be smaller
any help would b appreciated
I ordered VT540 powder and berger 180's yesterday to try different things...
the Barnes that I have are tipped and i've heard recently that some tipped ammo will have seating issues
what do i know...like it says..."newbie"
although i have run at least $1000 worth of every flavor of factory ammo and weight thru my rifle after putting it together, keeping the internal and external conditions fairly consistent to give each brand a fair chance to see what works best. fed 180's won with barnes 178 in second...the rest were a waste of money in my opinion.

I see. Heavier bullets get longer. If your powder wad already at full case, you may have no room. One option is to load longer. Let the bullet be seated further out. This may interfere with magazine OAL, and you need to watch for when a bullet at a certain seating depth starts to engage the lands of the barrel. For example, ejecting an unused round can pull the bullet and spill powder everywhere if the bullet is loaded so long that it jams firmly in the throat.
Most people like +/- .020 from the lands. I'm a zero guy myself right now. (But still learning and tweaking). I'm up to 190s.
You can also consider using lighter bullets until the powder is used up. Or switching powders to something a little hotter. (less powder same pressure)
