So I've been browsing the "my 22 shoots 1/2" groups all day" thread and it got my thinking... Could I do this with my 10/22?
Today, I tried. Blazer produced an avg of 0.925 out of 9 groups. -discouraging :(
So I tried CCI standard velocity and got an avg of 0.715 out of 9 groups. -not good enough. :|
Next up was CCI mini-mags which gave an avg of 0.424 out of 18 groups. -nice! :D
I got super-expensive "ELEY" match and got an avg of 0.441 out of 18 groups. -not bad :) despite 18.99 for 50rds

-Here's the kicker: I was shooting groups of 3, not groups of five. =:0

-To my defense: it was quite windy, and I only have a 7-power scope.
And I did shoot multiple +/- 0.300 groups and one 0.176 group...

So I ask you; Is it possible to shoot 5 groups of 5 shots each on a single peice of paper at 50yds with a 10/22??

I've been trying for a while with mine and have not managed it yet. I have a 10/22 target model that I recrowned the barrel on and did a trigger job. Here is my best so far, five shots at 50 yards.

I think I need to bed the action better and get the headspace right, plus a lot of practice. The group above is with CCI standard velocity.

with a standard out of the box 10/22?
no. i dont think it can be done.

with a modified 10/22 yes, fore sure.
in fact if you go back to the thread that got you going you will see a VQ 10/22 in there.
im sure my monster build will be able to do it once i get some decent ammo and a calm day.
im considering trying it at a indoor range when i go down south next time.

but ya, your gonna need a after market barrel and some long range glass and some good quality ammo at the least.

It's rainy and just crap shooting weather this weekend so I don't know when but I will keep trying. And my setup is a tactical innovations receiver&bolt matched pair, a custom trigger, and a 12.5 Dlask barrel, with a 2-7 vortex scope. I'm confident I can do it if the weather cooperates.

How fast do you wanna go?-----How much money have ya got?
Same for 10/22's. If you sink enough $$$$$ in, its possible.
I have 4 10/22's, & can attest to the above.
Bought a CZ 452 a year ago, stock with good ammo, it almost shoots on a par with my best ruger.

And the ruger cost 2 1/2 times the cz.

^^^^this. I'm on my 8th 1022 now and even the the factory target model couldn't hold a candle to my least accurate CZ. Some of the builds l have and have seen are amazing though.

Do you have the rimfire version of the vortex 2-7? How do you like it? I've recently bought one but haven't yet mounted it and gone to the range.

Yes it's the diamondback with 50yrd parallax. It's great! Absolutley perfect for squirrels and grouse but for serious target surgery I wish I had more zoom!
