1/2 MOA at 500 meters

1 MOA = 1 inch at 100 yards.
1 MOA =5 inches at 500 yards.

½ MOA at 500 yards is 2.5 inches group size, center to center.

500 meters is 546.8 yards.

½ MOA would be 2.73 inches group size.

I used the common estimate of 1 MOA = 1 inch at 100.
J996 above is correct.
Do the math with 1.047.

OK; thanks. However that is a theoretical (perfect) result. When one considers all other factors wind, lighting (mirage) etc, is it conceivable to say, my gun shoots 1/2 MOA at 500 meters.
Thanks again

Wind, lighting (mirage) etc. has nothing to do with how you measure a group size. That's math.
Or how you state group size.
Wind, lighting (mirage) etc. has has everything to do with how you achieve those groups at distance.

Yeah, you just measure the group... if it's less then 2.73 " it's 1/2 moa or less. My 6br has shot a few 1/2 moa 5 shot groups at 500M. Not consistently but man what a feeling when it does.
