Here's the deal...
I keep hearing about all these out of the box 1/4 moa rifles. The ORA has practice days booked at Cedar Springs (you can pick your own date from one of these). www.ontariorifleassociation.org
The cost of a guest fee is $45 for the day, plus the cost of a target marker (about $15-$20) If you bring your stock rifle and prove you can shoot a 1/4 moa 5 round group at 300m prone off a rest, I will pay your guest fee and pay for your marker for the day.

Here are the rules. Rifle must be an off the shelf rifle with original barrel. Must be shot from the prone position. You can use any rest except sandbags or a one piece rest. Bedded actions are allowed. Any scope.

If you can not produce a 5 shot 1/4 moa group, you pay the guest fee and the cost of the marker($65 in total).

Who's up for the challenge?:nest:

Edit to add: no muzzle brakes allowed.

Can't say i have ever seen that! off the shelf rifle shootin a 5 shot group 1/4" MOA @ 300 M
Maynard, I think you are Safe..........! Oh ya!

That's going to be as popular as psychic spoon benders taking up James Randi's $1M challenge. I can't do that with my best rifle at 100M.

Maynard, either no one will show or you'll make some money. No other oprion.
Good luck!

Peter

Peter,
The only ones that come ahead in the deal is the ORA that gets a guest fee (one way or the other) and the marker gets paid. I am not making any money off the deal but it could cost me if all these 1/4 moa Savage/Stevens, Remington shooters show up;)

Do they only need one group at ¼ MOA? Let’s say they shoot 10 groups and one happens to be that elusive ¼ group. Are you still going to pay their fees? Even if you give them these odds I still think your money will be safe in your wallet.

Shoot enough groups you are bound to get a .25". The bullets gotta land somewhere, eh?

On a regular practice day a person could expect to shoot 5 relays of 12 shots. So if they were so inclined they would have a chance to shoot 10, 5 shot groups. Most of these rifles I hear about on CGN will shoot 1/4 moa all day long so it shouldn't be a problem given 10 chances to do it.

I will offer the same challenge if they can put a 10 shots group into a 1/2 moa at 300m. If they can do it, the only cost for the day is their gas to get here and their ammo.

I can't say that I can shoot that well at 300 but would love to get out. I am interested in joining the ORA as well but haven't had the time or the chance to get out. When do you plan on doing this? It would be nice to have a mentor to take me to the range.

Any practice day that is booked for Cedar Springs. See the ORA web page for details. I will be your mentor for the day but I will be in Bisley in July. Contact me via PM for more details.

Maynard,

The ICFRA F-Class target is .4MOA I think you could even dare them to shoot at that. Anyone with 75-15V with a factory gun... and we want pictures and wittnesses.

I would be there in a heartbeat,.....(fully expecting to pay my 65 bucks)if I was back in Ontario. 1/4 MOA be damned, do it just for the experience. If you live in SW Ontario and are the least bit F-Class or long range curious, I would urge you to take up Maynard's offer. 60 rounds downrange with someone pulling and scoring your targets is worth the price of admission right there. The added bonus of an experienced hand willing to show you the ropes is priceless. Good on you Maynard for the kind offer.

Maynard- what a nice way of calling BS. Too bad the owners of all those 1/4 MOA factory guns live too far away to take up your offer.
