Those are some ragged holes.Spent three months dry firing off a tripod standing while holding tight AF with a 30x scope to build strength and shrink the wobble zone.
First rounds fired since December. The goal was 1moa but 2,3,5 has changed that.View attachment 1121416
Right on.Here is a group I fired from kneeling position. .308, 5 shots, 100m.

I use an angle finder to perfectly level my rifle in a soft jaw'd bench vise. I then use the angle finder on the top of my upper turret to level the scope; and keep referring to it as I tighten the rings.I’m using the same targets at 100. My goal is to confirm zero from all positions. Prone, kneeling, standing. As we speak I have my rifle out and trying to perfect cant. Something seems out of wack.
This is how I’m levelling recently. It’s a bit easier with a chassis and arca rail, but set the straight edge on the bottom of the foregrip, then move your straight edge to the flat on the bottom of your turret. Verify it’s not moving while tightening rings. In the second pic I couldn’t hold the level properly and take a pic, but I think the idea is easy. It seems to be working for me so farI use an angle finder to perfectly level my rifle in a soft jaw'd bench vise. As a side note, its almost impossible to "see" anything under 2 degrees from level with the eye or a non-precision bubble level...
You would be very surprised how much of your issues may stem from the scope only being 1 or 2 degrees out... hence why you likely have a bubble on the side of your optic...
Cheers!

Each position will more than likely have a different zero in each position .I’m using the same targets at 100. My goal is to confirm zero from all positions. Prone, kneeling, standing. As we speak I have my rifle out and trying to perfect cant. Something seems out of wack.
Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to overcome. I’m going to work on body position or whatever I have too overcome that. Maybe it’s the way I’m managing recoil? I’m probably heading out tomoorow and I plan on working with the level and trying more of a free recoil. And I might bring one more set of weights to give the rifle a bit of a pull down on the barrel end instead of perfectly balanced. Each position will more than likely have a different zero in each position .
As far as having the gun perfectly level in each position , your natural will not have a level rifle either because of your body's contour.
This is why rifles stocks used Free Rifle competition are fully adjustable for LOP, pitch, Cheek offset can't,etc.

Your natural alignment is far more important than if your rifle level.Yeah, that’s what I’m trying to overcome. I’m going to work on body position or whatever I have too overcome that. This game is never-ending.
The tighter you hold the rifle the more stress you put into your position , which will effect your shot because of your natural alignment.Spent three months dry firing off a tripod standing while holding tight AF with a 30x scope to build strength and shrink the wobble zone.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll add that to my list of Tom foolery tomorrow.Your natural alignment is far more important than if your rifle level.
Concentrate on eyeing up the target, mounting the rifle, and closing your eyes momentarily, then opening them .
If you are sighting low
( standing position) Move your left foot back a bit. If high, move it slightly Foreard.
Of the sight is to the right , the rear foot gets moved to the right slightly , and vice versa.

Let me know when you need some help with your prone and kneeling position help. As I think you know, I have had some excellent coaching and a bit of experience shooting three position competition in both smallbore and fullboreTh
Thanks for the tip. I’ll add that to my list of Tom foolery tomorrow.

Two rando shots at a gven distance does not an expert make.Lets do hockey pucks at 1000 and see how loose treats ya. ROTFLMAO. A hard hold minimizes change in POA before the boom. It takes time and certain level of physical to master.
Zero doesn't change between positions:
Tripod zero with one elbow on the hood of my truck at 1/2 mile holding tight AF.

This is fundamentally incorrect.Lets do hockey pucks at 1000 and see how loose treats ya. ROTFLMAO. A hard hold minimizes change in POA before the boom. It takes time and certain level of physical fitness to master.
