1-4 vs 1.5-4

Looking at optics for my first AR for 3 gun. How much of a disadvantage is a 1.5 base power scope vs. a 1 base power scope? Usefulness of illumination?

I have both and can hardly tell the difference at 1.5x, etc. My eyes aren't getting any younger either.

I’ve owned a 1.5-5 Mk4 MRT, Accupoint 1.25-4 and then the 1-4 accupoint. The 1.25 and 1.5 base magnification still work fine for both eyes open shooting. 1X is ever so marginally better but not to the point where I’d shell out a ton of extra dough for one if I could find a deal on a 1.25 or 1.5.
