1-4x24 Scope

I have the trijicon tr25. It's 1-6, green dot in the middle (fibre optic and tritium), crystal clear glass, mil dot reticle. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best all around AR15 scope money can buy. Every person who has looked through it has agreed.

The dot in the middle is quite small (less than 1MOA) so precise shots isn't a problem. The dot isn't daylight visible, it's daylight BRIGHT. I am just as fast with it at 1x as I am with my Aimpoint. No batteries required.

The caps are covered, which is good for action shooting. The clicks are ok, not super awesome like my S&B. The only main downside is the price. Got mine from a site sponsor for about $1900 (after tax and shipping). Buy once, cry once.

I have a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4 with the green triangle on a post reticle. Turrets are capped, glass is awesome. Works great from 25m out to 500m It's available with different reticles, and colours. I paid about $1000 for it.

I have a Vortex VIPER PST 1-4×24 SFP TMCQ MOA that I'm very happy with. Has an illuminated portion to the reticle and exposed tactical style turrets.
I've used it on my AR's

I just got a Vortex Crossfire 1-4x24 with duplex type reticle and capped turrets, still trying this one out. They're a fair bit cheaper than the Viper line.

What's the application for the scope?

What do you want to do with it? What are you putting it on? What's your budget? With all the unknowns I recommend either a Millet or Nightforce.

I have an aimpoint micro t2 on my XCR, now with an AR in the stable I want to be able to have some magnification either for 3 gun or plinking at longer distances so I think 1-4 would be good don't want BDC because I want to potentially swap optics between the 2 guns (XCR is 7.62x39, and AR is 5.56), budget is around $600, so Vortex or Bushnell are probably my options.

I recently picked up a Leupold Mark AR 1.5-4 fire dot off the EE for 500. I don't have too much time on it yet but so far so good. Plus you can't beat Leupold quality

I find optics are one of the last few things that still hold true to "you get what you pay for". Most things now, you pay for the brand but when it comes to glass it really seems the higher in price you go, the higher in quality and durabuility.

With a budget of 600, you may have a tough time finding something of good quality, but I have heard good things about the bushnell AR 1-4x which should fit that budget. Next best would probably be a vortex PST 1-4x but you'd have to stretch your budget a little. Don't forget to include cost of a mount.
