Anyone got any experience mounting a scope on the H&R Ultra Slug Hunter?
I have a Bushnell 1.5-6x44 scope with 30mm tube and need rings. I am worried that high rings won't clear the hammer. What rings have you used and what worked best? I see that Burris has weaver type rings, 30mm tube and extra high, I think those would work. Suggestions?
thanks,

Just going through this myself.

You may require High or even Extra High. It is not as easy to calculate as ring height from objective bell clearance. In addition to the ring height, it depends on the eye piece outer diameter, the main tube diameter, and how far forward or backwards you mount the scope for proper eye relief. Best bet is to have your local shop try a few rings to see what fits. If that's not an option, I mounted a Bushnell 3200 2-7x32 with Weaver standard detachable rings in High. That combination gave just barely enough room for the hammer, but the scope did not have enough eye relief for me. Moving on to Extra High Burris XTR rings and a Nikon Omega 3-9x40 SlugHunter, which should have plenty of room for the hammer as well as ample eye relief.

Used Burris mediums on my HR, took a dremel to the hammer and installed a hammer spur
