I am almost done my build but I did get out to shoot it yesterday and today. By almost done I mean I want to get a remple bipod for it. If I don't get one soon I will probly machine a flat plate to screw to the front tube to make a wider bearing surface. In a rest that narrow tube is kinda tippy.

I got my Leupold ring issue straightend out, and the gun now wears ATRS rings. I must say I see why everyone raves about them! I did not want to fire the gun until it was done the way I wanted it. I have been dreading the break in but decided to get to it yesterday.

It was -3 with 11-17 winds yesterday. Fire a round, clean, fire a round, clean. I don't think I got any copper out of my barrel. This my be the beauty of a hand lapped match barrel and a gunsmith that chambers very well.

I have 5 boxes of Lapua 6mmbr 105's to shoot to get brass. Seeing as I am kinda playing around I have only been doing 3 shot groups (I know). Yesterday at 100 the gun did a .207 3 shot group. My hands were kinda cold with all the cleaning but I was very happy.

Today turned out to be a real nice day. +3 with virtually no real wind. I figured after my final real clean yesterday the gun was ready for 200 yards. I shot a few fouler groups that ran about .725 then .614. I am still trying to figure out what the gun likes. I decided I would try free recoil as I always do in testing.

First 3 shotter I pulled one but knew I pulled it. Obviously it was the 3rd shot. would of been almost as good but turned into a 1 inch group with the pull. I focused a bit more and didn't rush it. Next 3 shot group was .246 and 200. Yes its only a 3 shot group but i'm damn happy. I only use the bipod on the gun for pictures. I shoot off a rock br front rest and rear bag.

I can't wait to try out some berger 80 grainer flat base to see if I can get any more out of it. I have berger 80's, 88's and 105's to try.

I know this gun will print one holes all day. I need to work on the driver. Huge thanks to Dennis Sorensen for the excellent chambering job!

Gun is a 6mmbr, 20 inch Krieger barrel, Defiance deviant action, Cadex chassis, Jewel trigger (still at 1.5 lbs but have spring to drop it way down), Sightron glass and atrs rings. Once I get a front rest to my liking I plan to do a lot more groups.

Just curious when you are doing your breaking in cleaning every round or so how intensely are you cleaning?

All I ever do to clean is get the bore wet with G96 wait a few minutes then run some dry patches through and repeat if they are dirty.

I just bought a barrel and I'm not sure if during initial cleaning I should be scrubbing with brushes or using a solvent or something like that.

Nice looking rifle by the way!

Yes this gun is a repeater Lojak.

I am not big on using brushes if I don't think it needs it (accuracy goes downhill). I am not big on putting anything in the bore that isn't a bullet. From what I read, if your not getting copper, break in is done. I did the fire then clean deal for 5 rounds. Then I shot 5 and clean and 5 and clean then 5. Got home and cleaned and called it done. I got the tinyist amount of copper once. I only used patches and I only used a dedicated copper remover. From my understanding the only reason for break in is to make sure you don't pile up a ton of copper on any burrs that are left from chambering.

I could be totally wrong on everything but the gun shoots. During load development today the 3rd 3 shot group printed .131 at 100.

Thanks Shelby, much appreciated. I've been thinking about a 6BR build over the last month and what I'd like to do is very comparable to yours. I'll admit I have concern about 6BR in a repeater, what mags are you using?

Good barrels, with a quality chamber job require zero break in.
Good barrels with an average chamber job benefit from a pass or two with a brush every few rounds, for the first 10.
Factory barrels, especially poor ones, need to do the traditional type of break in to fill all the voids with copper without getting impurities between the layers.
Five shot groups please !
