1/8" or 1/4" MOA Turrets

I guess it would depend on how precise you want to be able to adjust your point of impact to be.
For hunting 1/4moa adjustments are fine, for real long range shooting 1/8th would be better in many cases as being to adjust in finer increments can be desirable.
I have several new NF scopes ordered with 1/8th turrets for that very reason.
I find shooting at 1000 yards and only being able to 2.5" incremental changes frustrating as 1 click can mean being too far 1 way or the other. A 1.25" increment to me makes more sense for long range despite needing to turn the turret twice as many revolutions.

I have a 1/8 MOA adjustment on my current scope and inside 600m it can be a bit of pain. I say thins because I dial everything into my scope and do very little holds. It is slow as you are doing twice the adjustment you would be doing with a 1/4MOA setup. If all out precision at extended ranges is your goal then the 1/8MOA may be what you are looking for. If not then I would stick to 1/4 MOA.

1/8 adjustments also generally restrict your "come ups", in other words not as many minutes of elevation available. This can be countered with angled mounts or Burris rings, but it's another problem to work through if shooting at longer ranges. Some scopes allow 1/8 adjustments and sufficient MOA, but not many. Why would you want fine adjustments for mule dear? 1/8MOA is for BR or FClass. 1/2 MOA would be be more suitable, but most scopes are 1/4, as you know.

If you're buying a cheap scope for a hunting rifle it doesn't matter what the stated adjustments are. Neither your rifle nor the scope will produce sub quarter minute accuracy, so what's the point?

LOL, sorry I wasn't clear, my "mule" rifle is a Rem. SPS-V that I picked up for cheap and plan on trying different things with it but dont care much if it gets abused and such not for hunting (maybe coy dogs), so more or less a project rifle. sorry for the confusion, and peterdobson the only mule deer around here in Ontario are at the zoo.LOL. too funny
