I am getting some good groups with a number of 95-100gr factory loads out of a Savage Axis. The twist rate seems to be good for those weight bullets.I'm wanting to try some of the 55gr Varmint loads like Nosel ballistic tips and Hornady V max.Generally can I expect similar groupings or will they open up due to the fast twist rate. Anyone have with experience comparing with similar loads?I want the flatter shooting Varmint loads for those 3-400 yd yote shots.

You'll be just fine with the 55s. Remington all have 1-9 twist and shoot everything from 55s to 105s just fine.......

Your best bullet in a 243 is 75-80 gn for velocity and trajectory combined..........not as fast as 55s obviously but flying much better out at 300 and 400 mtrs........

What powder are you running with the 55gr bullets a buddy has a couple .243 /6mm he wants to make varmint loads for.I own .25 calibers but no 6mm.......harold

My savage didn't like the 55-75s but maybe I didn't push them fast enough...80-100gr is shoots under an inch. The Sierra 85gr HPBT best so far

Thanks guys.I picked up a box of 58gr V max's this afternoon. I hope to give them a try tomorrow.I will start at 100yds.I'm interested to see how much the POI changes from the 100gr used to sight it in with.
