1:9 barrel twist

Just drawbacks....no benefits. Too fast a twist for slow, soft lead, rimfire rounds.
Can still shoot OK, will foul more then a 1/16......1/9 is just not the optimal twist.

Do standard/high velocity .22's ever start to tumble with the 1:16 twist at a certain range? I know I have nailed water bottles out to 200 yards and have never saw any sign of key-holes yet. My .17 HMR launches its slug (pill) at like 25-2600 fps and i believe it has a 1:9 twist seems a .22 with a much lower velocity and twist rate would not stabilize as well.

If you're talking about a .22LR conversion kit in an AR, you'll be fine. If you're looking at getting a barrel for your 10/22 and don't have a reliable supply of the 60gr. SSS ammo, there really isn't any point in getting a 1-9". The 1-16" will give you better velocity and accuracy with standard weight .22LR bullets.

From what I've seen its no worse than a standard 10/22 barrel with 40gr. bullets. But for a heavy, match grade barrel, that doesn't say much...

Even with the 60gr. SS rounds, the 50 yard groups are still around 1". That's crap compared to what you can get with 40gr. in a 1-16" match barrel.

I wouldn't waste my money on a 1-9" match barrel if you insist on getting one. Tactical Innovations makes a 1-9" that fits the standard stock for around $115. Not sure where you would find those in Canada.
