I shot my first 1" group at 100m today with my sporter Enfield. Using my first ever 303 handloads! :D
I've got a 3-9 mounted on it ofcourse :p

Just like the girls we dated, some will, some won't, some do, some don't.

There are a lot of reasons why some Lee Enfields will shoot consistently very well or very poorly.

Way to many to go into here.

Your rifle/load seem to be performing very well.

bobfortier, just because his load, worked well in that particular rifle, doesn't mean it will work well in yours.

I'm willing to bet, clean up the bedding, properly adjust the fore end pressure, start out with an excellent barrel with a tight/square/receiver/bore and you will find that the rifle will shoot one inch groups consistently, as long as you do your part.

If your rifle is worn, bedding pounded down, sloppy action with worn bore, it won't matter what load you use, it will be a 4 inch shooter, until it's fixed.

Anyone have links to any good reading on accurizing Lee Enfields? I'd love to try to help my one original No4, its shooting pretty sloppy groups plus I'd like to learn some more about it

I'd verify barrel condition first, especially the extent of wear and crown condition. Without a sound barrel to start with you are basically putting lipstick on a pig.
