1 Mile Time Again Pics up

That's the challenge of long range shooting is to be able to read the conditions like wind and mirage to see how they are changing from shot to shot and compensate for the changes. So you can put all your shots on target. 1609m is a long shot but 4' x 5' is a huge target. I'm not saying that shooters should have first round hits especially with no zero but once you have a zero for that range it shouldn't take a box of shells to hit your target.

as the distance grows there is more challenge . its fun no matter how you look at it, there is distinct power advantages of the larger cals that really show up when you stretch the distance. but with it all to show hits at the target over 1700 yards away is a good accomplishment. weather its with ten rounds to get there or forty the goal and object is the same for all of us to better our last shoot

until saturday i had never shot out to 1 mile. after getting a ruff estimate on the wind from shooting 1500 i went to the 1 mile target. on my fifth shot i hit the plate. i then went on to shoot a total of 32 rnds at this target and only managed to hit it a total of 9 times. that works out to around 26% hits. in my mind i would say i accomplished somthing but still got my a$$ kicked by the 1 mile. anyone can fire endless amounts of bullets down range until they hit the target but once again it is more of a fluke than shooter ability.
