H4895 I use it in 303 Brit, 243 Winchester and 223. I have good results in all.

You won't find a much more accurate powder than varget in either .223 OR .308. Use it with no fear.

I use IMR 4320 in my .223, .308 and .303, solves the problem of sourcing powders and such.

I would use the powders that work best in your rifles. If you need to stock more than one to do it then so be it. Some people use Varget in M14/M1 actions some people say you shouldn't.

It is generally recommended to load between 147-173gr bullets for the M1 Garand or M14 using standard jacketed bullet loads.

A powder in the suitable burn rate range for the action of this type of semi auto gas rifle such as IMR 4895, H4895, AA 2495, BL C2, H335, Win 748, IMR 4064 (and there are others).

A good example would be the Sierra Matchking HPBT .308" 168gr with IMR 4895 or IMR 4064 powder.

IMR 4895/4320/4064/4198/BL-C#2 for my precision .223 (havent narrowed it down to one I like yet, no time to shoot them at distance)
IMR 4198 and reloader 7 for 30-30 cast bullets
Nobel #2 for my 9mm
WW 231 for my .357
IMR 4227 for my .22 hornet
Reddot and 700X for 12g trap shot loads
Bluedot for 12g slug loads
800X for 12g #000buck loads
I think I have the whole list there... may have missed a couple powders that I don't currently use but have. You can see why I'd want only one more big use powder in my powder magazine.

The two powders that will work best are H 4895 & Varget both are extreeme powders, work well in heat or cold most of all powders mentioned earlier can cause spikes in pressure in the hot days of summer. expecially 748win.
In a long barreled 223 will put the 62gr bullets over 3000fps as well the 155gr match over 3000 fps

Trying to find a One-size-fits-all is always a compromise. My best compromise for powder is 4350. It works well for all my hunting calibers and most milsurp rifles. I have 40 or 50 pounds of it stored throughout several locations. I use Imr4350 for : 30.06, 308, 30-30, 7.62x39, 7.62x54r, 8mm mauser, and .303

I use Blc2 for both 223 and 308. Meters great, was going to try H4895, couldn't find any, so I ordered 8lbs Blc2 from Budget Shooter Supply ( Surrey BC), arrived to my door 3 days later. 3 weeks they should have in H4895 in 8 lb kegs.

One of the guys at the gun shop said not to use 4320. I had no experience reloading for a semi so I believed him.

Gun shop advice should always be take with a grain of salt, I use 4320 in my 223 and 308 and I've never had cycling problems with either.

I'm at the tail end of 32 pounds of WCC844 (similar to 735). Worked well in .30-30, .308, .22-250, .223, 8-06, .45-70 - I'm sure I'm missing some...

Have you tried 4320 also and any thoughts between the two?
