Ever wonder what a spread of 10,000 + Snow Goose decoys must look like from the air? This outfitter in the US is running a spread of 10,000+ decoys!!!
Sorry about the phone number in the pic, I am not spamming. It's the way the pic was emailed to me.

Where is the landing zone? where would the blinds go in a spread like that looks like the birds can land half mile away and still be in decoys

10,000 decoys..... average time to place a decoy, including time to get them from a vehicle etc is, say 1min/decoy - this would take +16.5 hours of non-stop work for a crew of 10 to set up, never mind moving vehicles around, bringing the decoys to the site etc. I am skeptical.

To answer your question about landing zones etc. you have to set your decoys, or in this case position yourself to suit the wind. In a big spread you set so the birds will follow leaders up into the wind past your position to the main spread. There is an art and science to setting decoy's. But if they really want down bad they will land around you while your standing up in the set. But 98% of the time there real fussy.
I would imagine that spread pictured is left out from day to day except for daily changes due to wind direction. Illegal here but perhaps not there. Then again could all be a pile of BS like the fella says. Sure has my 20 goose decoys beat anyways.

Looks like normal fields here in the Richmond BC area when they are in transit. I have counted several hundred in the school yard around the corner from my house! They make a lot of racket taking off and landing!

This is a true deal......oops, doubled up somehow??

I wonder id it works a lot better than a spread of say a couple hundred decoys?

During the spring conservation hunt the birds are migrating en masse. The amount of gunning pressure on them since September when they left the breeding grounds has been continuous. It takes massive numbers of decoys generally to get them into shooting range because the numbers they travel in are what they are used to seeing and feel comftorable with. I have never hunted them over a spread that large but I have hunted them in spring and by the time they get to us up here they are PRESSURED!! I have hunted them with 800 decoys out and watched as they skirted around the spread at height rather than overfly it. Most outfitters south of the border run spreads of 1000 - 3000 decoys for snows.

judging by the road into the middle of the spread and the several vehicles parked along side of it I'm guessing its real. 10000 decoys...im not sold on. You can make a spread look huge with proper placement
