10/22 aftermarket trigger kits?

There are several choices for triggers that I would look at before buying a whole trigger group. If you’re looking for a good cheap way to get a fairly light trigger (around the 2.5lbs range) the VQ hammer would be a good choice. Another choice would be Skeeters trigger kit (this is what I have on my 10/22). The trigger is around 1.8lbs, nice for all around shooting. These hammers replace the factory one in the trigger group and can be found for about $30.00.

Again, there is also a very expensive way to do things. The Kidd trigger is a very nice trigger that will get pull weight down to around the 6-8oz range. It comes with a cost though . At around $300 US it is very pricy. You can also adjust the trigger to about 2-3 pounds for a maxium pull weight for hunting/plinking.

There are other trigger groups out there that are quite pricy such as the VQ 2000 but the pull weight on this system can not be lowered real low and IMO it would be better just to get a VQ hammer which will lower it nearly as much.

Wow those prices at TT shooter are pretty good. Too bad he's in the states though.

There are alot of things that can be done for sure! Thats the fun in this.

The easiest is to drop the $30 or so, go with the VQ hammer and call it a day. The results from this are... ok.

The hardest is to stick with factory parts and work them till you get what you want. (What the above link is selling) I started to get the hang of it around rifle number 6 or so. Its the hardest way for sure, and if you are paying someone to do it, its not the cheapest way either.

If you are impatient, and have money to spend on it, you could just buy a competition trigger mech from a company like Kidd, or VQ.

Here's what I figure is the middle ground. Go to the brownell's website and search for this item number. 713-000-071

If it was my first build again I would go this way. I think its a good balance of money and time costs. And you will certainly be happy with the results.
You might just have fun installing it all too. If you are leary about it and are in lower mainland BC I dont mind helping.

As for limits for trigger pull on a 10/22... Every time I go under 2 pounds, things get finicky. My last build got down to 1.75 lbs but I cant say I could do it again. It varies from rifle to rifle it seems and I think my last one might have been rather exceptional.

There may be aftermarket maufcturers who's re-engineered products go lower, but thats a completely different ball of wax. If that is what you are looking for, your income puts you out of my realm of knowledge! ;)

Thanks; am leaning towards getting a VQ parts kit.

I'd really try polishing the internals. The only issue is grinding down too far. If it doesn't work out you'll have the vq.

I've done it on several and they were on par if not better than vq. I've only ruined one hammer and I was pushing it to see how Light I could get it.
