10/22 barrel length

you can not cut a 22 semi auto barrel below 18.5", ever.
you can BUY a new barrel all the way down to like 6" for your 10/22 but you can never ever ever ever ever cut a barrel or have one cut.
(did i say ever?)
ever ever.

not even 1/2 of 1/4 of 1mm off.
ever.

That's not true either.
Do not cut it shorter than 457mm for rimfire or manually operated firearms or 470mm for a semi automatic non rimfire.

Personally, I like leaving about 25mm extra because you know who is going to be measuring it if it ever does happen... They don't hire them for their math skills.

criminal code of canada 84(1)

(c) an automatic firearm, whether or not it has been altered to discharge only one projectile with one pressure of the trigger, or

So 18"min barrel for a rimfire with a min oal of 26". But a "factory" made barrel can be shorter as long as the min oal is 26"

EDIT
yes, i need to read before i type.
yes, you are right.

example, i have a Dlask DAR22 that has a 8" barrel and is 26 1/4" OAL and is legal.
i put a compensator on it but i dont have to have that on and the OAL is measured without a comp on.

not enough to worry you.

there is a web site where some guys cut a 22 off every 1" and tested it, the loss so insignificant that its a none issue for most of us.

accuracy by the inch?
what was the web site called..... i think i have it bookmarked, ill go look.

Cool thanks. Will I get tighter groups with a Dlask barrel? I don't know much about there stuff. Everywhere I look I see Kidd lol.

Dlask makes nice barrels but they are heavy buggers.
i personally like them.
couple other places make lighter barrels if your wanting light ones.
Tactical Solutions is a light one.

Kidd is nice, expensive and at times hard to find up here.
