Hey everybody I'm new on this forum, it's really great to have a source for shooting information that applies to CANADIANS!

Anyways, I'm looking at giving my ruger a pick-me-up this summer with a new stock and a new barrel. My issue is with aftermarket barrel options; I'm sure this question's been asked many times but I'm wondering what my options are for a good shooting barrel that is 'readily' available in Canada. Accuracy wise, im hoping for enough to "do its part when i do mine". Something like 1/2" groups at 50yds with accurate ammo (what ever eley it ends up liking probably) would suffice. One more thing, I dont want to spend an arm and a leg, but im not looking to go cheap either just whatever will be accurate enough.

Thanks in advance everyone, I'm looking forward to seeing what my options are.

Spend the money, get a Kid Barrel from Fabsports, and then bask in the glow of your super tight groups.

When my black Kid barrel first arrived my wife commented that it looks like a magic wand. I said yes it makes bunny rabbits disappear

Very happy with the Dlask barrel I installed a month or two ago.

I think the Dlask or Fabsports offerings are much more value than the Butler Creek offerings you see at some gun shops.

Personally have no experience with the KID barrels but they seem to be the next tier of barrels.

Jerry, (mysticplayer on this forum) has Shilen and McGowan options. Check him out.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I had been looking at the Mystic Precision website and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with McGowan barrels? they seem to be a good buy and have lots of options for length, contours etc. and dont require me to find a thread cap like the Dlasks, which also seem like a good buy... so many options haha

The Dlask barrels come with a "thread protector" which looks good on there imho. That being said they also sell a reworked Levang compensator that is the bees knees! Just order both.

"Dlask fluted barrels are made from quality barrel steel and are precision reamed, button rifled and air gauged. The 22 Long Rifle barrels feature a Bentz Match Chamber style and target-style crown. Barrels are .920” diameter non-tapered and threaded 1/2x28 TPI at the muzzle. Thread protector not included"

this is what it says on the dlaskarms.com website at least, maybe this isnt quite up to date...and i did see the levang compensator...i might just have to order both haha

Thanks again for everyone's input!

I'm sorry for the misinformation! When I ordered mine it came with one, things must have changed.

Yeah thats odd cause mine came with thread protector as well, and only about a month ago. That being said, I got a Levang compensator for no other reason than it looks darn cool.

alright then this all sounds good and the pictures show the barrels with protectors on, doesnt make sense that they would come without a protector, but ill probably just get the compensator anyways haha

thanks again for all the good info, i hadnt heard of dlask before so all of your suggestions are much appreciated!

Dlask. I have a Butler Creek fluted stainless on a 10/22 that shoots quite well but it was spendy! On another I have a Dlask and I'm very pleased with it's performance and really pleased with the price/performance ratio.

McGowen barrels are made from stress relieved, lapped match quality blanks. They shoot very well.

Shilen is one of the top three BR quality match barrel suppliers in BR50 in the US. many consider them #1 or #2

I can also offer you Shooters Ridge, and Butler Creek although it looks like BC is getting out of the barrel business.

Let me know...

Jerry
