Im thinking on buying a 20" .920 barrel for my stock 10 22.the barrel chanel will need to be opened up .I was thinking I would put a barrel pillar in the forend of the stock by drilling a hole and epoxing a threaded 10/24 brass screw in .it would be adjustable with a jam nut.my question is where would you locate this in the stock.4" ahead of the V block or in the tip of the stock.your thouhgts please.

My opinion is that 20 inch bull puts too much strain on the v block. i put a pillar about one third up on my 18`inch bbl .... other people seem to think its useless. your idea of 4 inch ahead of v-block is good, and should not affect resonance or harmonics IMHO.

Yes thats my way of thinking as well .the barrel will have a support point but will also be free floated from that point forward.did you think it made a difference with the 18" barrel.

Thanks for the link Dr Lector .thats what im thinking of installing only it will be from materials i have on hand.and only be adjustable by removing the stock.
