10/22 bolt lock spring essential

not sure if this is the place for this but does anybody know if a 10/22 will function without the bolt lock spring?

i have 2 replacements on route but would like to shoot some rimfire this weekend.

incase anybody else has this problem rifle performed flawlessly without the spring

Were u still able to lock the bolt open and release it?

ya that spring only hold the bolt release down so having it out of the rifle would only effect the bolt releasing.
interesting, never thought about that before.
ya if you didn't care if your bolt got held open or having the spring assist when releasing you wouldn't need that spring.
