Hi Guys, I have a Volquartsen fire fly bolt (light weight sub sonic bolt) and noticed it is wider than the factory Ruger bolt. Does anyone know if the Kidd, Dlask and the Volquartsen competition bolts are wider than the factory ruger bolt or is it just my fire fly bolt that is wider? Does anyone have one of the above mentioned bolts that they can measure for me? Thanks in advance.

I have a new bolt from Dlask coming as well as a couple of Kidd bolts. I will put the Vernier on them when the new one arrives from Dlask which should be in the next week. I have the three Kidd and with the new one, three Dlask bolts. I will measure all of them as well as the two original Ruger bolts. Cheers Chris

Thanks Chris, appreciate it.

Well Gr8One I received my new Kidd bolt. I measured two stock Ruger bolts and the Kidd. Ruger number one from rear to mid to front are 0.9356", 0.9318", 0.9308". Ruger number two from rear to mid to front are 0.9343", 0.9333", 0.9330". The kidd bolt measured the same way was 0.9380" on all three measurements. Not really much of a surprise. I will measure my Dlask bolts as soon as I need to clean the guns there in or if I get bored. The Kidd bolt is also heavier than the Rugers so ill have to do a weight comparison also. Im tryin to like you but ur causing me work. HAHA just tryin to be humerous!

Thanks a lot for doing this Chris, appreciated. Interesting data for sure.

The Volquartsen firefly bolt measures .940 and I confirmed with Volquartsen directly all their bolts are .940. I assume they designed their bolts to work in stock Ruger receivers and in their own model of 10/22 drop in receiver but they may not fit in others aftermarket receivers due to width.

Thx again.

I think the less play in the bolt ensures more consistent chambering and ingnition. The squarer the bolt to the breach face the better in my opinion the accuracy provided a quality barrel. Just my thinking. I have noticed many aftermarket triggers are very snug in comparison to factory which fall out after the trigger pins are removed. Stay safe and burn some powder, Chris

Yep, makes complete sense. Hoping to burn some powder this weekend. Take care.
