So i modded my own bolt release to make it auto release, and it seemed to function fine at home nice and smooth no sticking nothing. Then when i went to the range the bolt stuck open almost every shot. I woud have to pull it back a bit to get it to release again.

Any ideas if maybe i took off too much metal or is it not smooth enough?

Wheres the best place to buy another one to try?

Thanks

Almost sounds like you made the top of the opening flat, rather than slightly curved. Check it against the template. Shud be slightly arched, top high opposed to flat
Across the top.

for a long time i just went and purchased ones that where done.
last year i picked up a couple RIA 10/22 clones and figured what the hell, so i did up all 6 of them.
i had 1 that didnt work and still dosnt work.
didnt seem to matter what i did to it.
good thing was i had a bunch of those bolt release plates from all the ones i replaced from over the years so i was able to substatute one of those in and do the mod to it.
but from what i could tell while doing the 7 of them is that you really need to get the curve on the top just right.
and clean it up once your done, i had a couple that i had to sand smooth once done with the dremel and make them nice and smooth, then some oil on them to slick them up.

funny enough, if you compare the bolt hold open mod between a couple different afer market brands they are all just a little bit different.

im off at work away from home for a couple days but when i get back ill pop a couple out and take some pics so people can see the differences.

Hmm ok thanks, i did put a good curve on it, maybe i took too much? I kept taking more and more as i tested after each time if it worked but i forgot it needs a mag in to work so i may have taken more than needed.

Where is best place to buy stock one and a auto?
