Hi ! After jumping in the custom ruger bandwagon this summer, my own piece is nearly complete !

It started out as a 10/22 Compact

And after multiple additions and little headscratching assembly it goes like this (sorry bad lighting)

FSCN0193.jpg

Here's what i got in it :

- A "black" barracuda stock
- VQ THM carbon fiber barrel w/compensator & black ends
- VQ Black TG2000
- VQ CNC Bolt
- VQ Bolt buffer
- Trijicon Reflex RX06 rigged to an ARMS #15 and stock ruger weaver scope base
- Hex take-down screw
- 4 Tactical Inc composite mags

Apart from the stock, mags and the reflex everything came from rimfiresports & custom, good place do deal with !

Overall, a quite light and ###y little rifle, even my mother who can believe most the anti-gun BS finds it really beautiful

To finalize the rifle, bedding will be required, especialy around the action screw, that hole doesn't seem straight maybe a drill-pillar job could help...

But now i've still have one question, do any of you know an effective method to unscrew the compensator, i'll need to remove it for transport, my damned case is an inch too short:mad:

Thanks !

hi, nice rifle!!! As for how to get the compensator off, when I had a muzzle break on my .308 and took it off we just put a coated screw driver threw the holes and used the leverage to unscrew it, no damage and it was quite easy to remove.

Thanks for the feedback folks !

I'll try to find something that fits the comp's hole to remove but still doesn't damage the paint, otherwise i'll follow the only other way : get another case... Thats just silly, i could carry both my this rifle and my benelli m4 with it in a not too big package :(

Mine is your brother/sister rifle. I like your barrel...

What difference does the compensator do ???

If your ever in Alberta I'll take you for a shoot.... looser pays for a pitcher.

Not a fan of that style of stock(reminds me of a woman's high heel shoe),but i can appreciate the work that has gone into that gun..good job

I didn't tried either the mags nor the barrel yet, i should be able to give you some kind of review by weekend... But with stock barrel/VQ bolt, trigger & buffer i could do about 3/4" at 25 yard without too much trouble with federal value pack. I may hope better with this new hardware.
On the compensator topic : As the rest of the compensator it is supposed to be redirecting the gas which gets out before the bullet, when done so, the bullet's trajectory shall not be disturbed and thus its velocity is upped just a little. It may be true on a more powerful gun, i don't know but the effects on a such small scale as a .22LR long gun it may be hard to see, before my own own trials & results, i'll regard it as a very nice looking addon bling-bling.

Haha, let me final prep my gun first, we'll see who's going to pay :runaway: Very nice gun BTW

Finally tried the thing. Tweeked my mags : smooth operation & feeding ! Re-adjusted my sight, seems to hit where I aim. Since it was getting dark rather quick i couldn't shoot clearly at 50m, this distance will be tried again in another session. And mind this was not an accuracy test by its own right, i simply dumped 2 mags at each range for the fun of it (brough a friend of mine who tried both sporting clay and rifle shooting for the first time today :) ) and the results turned like this :

25m : Played a bit to adjust my reflex sight; 2 goups of 25 rounds (within 1 inch each) with 5-6 flyers including the 3 needed shot for settings

50m : It was getting REALLY dark and i couldn't see much contrast on the target, most of the shot went at an one inch spot but many other were scattered around, wierd... I'll try again next time, it will be much better for sure.

Ammo was Federal champion value pack (550 rounds) 36gr HP copper jacket (should try someday with some lapua stuff)

My friend and I had about 826559432236 misfires, guess its the damned temperature... Otherwise real fun rifle to be sure !
