build problem with barrel fit. Help Please!

Hi and thanks for looking. I am having minor issues with my set up. I am fitting an adams& Bennett heavy match 22l.r. barrel on a 22 receiver. All items are used but in great shape.
When I fit the barrel on, it is not tight in the receiver and when I tighten the v-block bolts, the barrel shifts. It is pulled downward. When I completed the build and threw the bore sighter on, the laser dot was below my crosshairs by 8 inches at 10 yards.
Are there spacers I can put in? Or could someone add a little shim to prevent it from being pulled down? Can I use 2-3 layers of aluminum foil or is that a bad idea?
What can I do?
Thanks.

IMO bad idea. Sounds like either someone sanded down the barrel too much or press fit the barrel inyo the receiver and widened the whole.
I could be completely wrong and one of the two is out of spec. I have the TI CH22 receiver and tacsol barrel and didnt have any issues after sanding down the barrel for fit.

Do you have a vernier caliper ? If yes, first step is to know which of the two is out of specs...

Found this on the net :

Ruger 10/22 and 77/22 Receiver bores can run from .6855 to .6890. bore diameter ... Aftermarket barrel shanks can run from .6851 to .6876 diameter.

Don't have calipers. Both factory and bull barrel are loose in the receiver.

A caliper is a very usefull tool, you can find them cheap, no need to be expensive.
If the 2 barrels are loose, its probably the receiver...

What about using jb weld on the barrel?

IMO that's a really bad idea !
The barrel needs to be concentric in the hole of the receiver, in line with the bolt.

I think at this point, you better take it to a gunsmith.
He will probably do some knurling on the barrel shank ( with a lathe or with a hand tool like the video below )

The question is, why the hole is so big ?

And/or you can peen the barrel shank as an alternative to knurling.

You are right, peen is an alternative to knurling.

The adjustable v-block is also good but if the barrel is loose at the point that he can put 2-3 layer of aluminium foil, I don't think that will fix the problem.
Most aftermarket barrel makers highly recommend to use the adjustable v-block with their barrels.

Hey buddy, I've got a spare Dlask barrel we can use to compare fit, and I have calipers too. Let me know when you can drop by with it, and I can bring the barrel down to the store. Or maybe on the weekend elsewhere? Let me know

Hello Hodaka. For sure that would work great. I like the adjustable v-block. Might be the ticket. I'll call you(message me your number please). Cheers.

Im not a fan of a loose barrel even using a vblock.
Sure sounds like the former owner didnt read directions and forced an aftermarket barrel into the receiver.

Yep I missed that completely.... Lol.
I'd measure the diff and get some brass shim stock to wrap around the barrel stub.
Or have a smith knurl it, line it up, and epoxy it in permanently. If it's knurled and taken in and out a few times it will loosen up quickly I would think.
